Local Chambers to Host Employment and Resources Fair to Help Connect Area Businesses with Job Seeker
The Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry to host an Employment and Resources Fair. This Fair will include potential jobs along with Health and Mental Wellness, Insurance, Financial Planning, and Training resources.
After the recent announcements of Verso Corporation idling the local Mill and Ho-Chunk Gaming Nekoosa issuing permanent layoffs the two Chambers are spearheading an area-wide fair.
“The goal is to help connect employers with job seekers and also help the job seekers with other resources they will need during this time of transition” stated Vice President Krista Coon.
The Fair will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Thursday, September 3rd from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Employer booths will be set up in the East Junior High School Field House off 6th Street in Wisconsin Rapids. Vendor booths will cost $50.00 for both days.
Nearly 50 businesses will be on-site recruiting for professional, technical, and service-related job opportunities. In addition to jobs, educational and resource organizations will also be available to provide career exploration skill development information. This will be a one-stop event to explore many jobs available in the area. The organizations will also have a virtual component for those who cannot attend in person.
There is no fee for the public to attend these sessions. If you or someone you know is looking for an exciting new career, be sure to come to this event.
For the safety of job seekers, employers, and sponsors, COVID safety will be implemented including physical distancing and hand washing/sanitizing stations. Masks are recommended.
Thank you to the current sponsors for the Fair City of Nekoosa, Hyland Fireworks, TRICOR Insurance, Paper City Savings, Nekoosa Lions Club, Nekoosa Court, Current Technologies, Lakeland University, Nekoosa Coated Products, Nekoosa Port Edwards State Bank, Ho-Chunk Gaming Nekoosa, Renaissance and City of Wisconsin Rapids.
