WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The spring date for the annual Central Wisconsin Job Fair is set for Wednesday, April 3. The event is free and open to all seeking a job or other opportunity with employers and will be held in the Gymnasium (E Building) at Mid-State Technical College’s Wisconsin Rapids campus (500 32nd Street North). Doors are open to the general public from 1 to 4 p.m., and veterans are invited to arrive at 12:30 p.m. for a special early opening.

According to Mid-State career services coordinator Joe Pomrening, today’s Central Wisconsin Job Fair is not just for jobseekers. “Anyone looking to make connections or learn about internships and other opportunities with the area’s best employers are encouraged attend,” he said.

In previous years, the Central Wisconsin Job Fair has attracted approximately 70 employers to the event. Many of them treat the fair as a networking opportunity, while some companies are looking to make specific offers. “We’ve seen that candidates who come prepared and ready to interview may be hired or given an internship on the spot,” Pomrening added. “Dressing the part is key, and it’s important to bring several copies of your current resume.”

Survey data shows that the most recent Central Wisconsin Job Fair, held last spring, attracted 65 local employers across a variety of industries. Combined, those employers collected 152 resumes and 144 applications from job seekers at the fair and identified numerous candidates for interview or immediate hire.

Free workshops prior to the event are being planned to help candidates with applications, resumes, what to wear, how to approach employers and more. For more information, visit www.mstc.edu/cwjobfair or call the Wisconsin Rapids Job Center at 715-422-5000.
