WISCONSIN RAPIDS – During Wound Care Awareness Month, Aspirus Riverview Wound & Hyperbarics Center is offering hope to anyone living with a chronic wound.
About 6.7 million Americans struggle with non-healing wounds, including diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers and infections. Many of these wounds can be healed. Using advanced therapies, Aspirus Riverview Wound & Hyperbarics Center offers patients a 99% healing rate within a median of 26 days.

While there are already millions of people living with chronic wounds, the incidence is rising, due to an aging population and increasing rates of conditions such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, COPD, and the late effects of radiation therapy. If left untreated, chronic wounds can diminish an individual’s quality of life and even lead to amputation. Even more alarmingly, 50 percent of people die within five years of amputation.

Located within Aspirus Riverview Hospital, Aspirus Riverview Wound & Hyperbarics Center offers an evidence-based, systematic approach to wound care. Patients receive an individualized treatment plan that includes advanced healing options such as wound debridement, compression therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues, biosynthetic dressings, advanced cellular products, and topical growth factor therapies. For patients whose wounds require it, the Center also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen to help speed the healing process.

Each patient’s treatment plan is the result of a team approach between the Center’s physicians and nurses and the patient’s primary health care provider. The plan is developed and scheduled based on the patient’s specific needs. Once treatment is complete, the patient will return to their primary health care provider to continue routine care.
If you or someone you love is suffering from a wound that won’t heal, the staff at Aspirus Riverview Wound & Hyperbarics Center wants to help. To schedule an appointment, please call the Center at 715-422-7755. For more information about wound care at Aspirus, visit aspirus.org/wound-care
