Mid-State Technical College will host its third SkillsUSA Welding Challenge on Friday, Oct. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Wisconsin Rapids Campus. High school SkillsUSA members and advisors are invited to attend. The Welding Challenge consists of two competitions: welding and job interview. The welding competition includes a hands-on weld test and a written test. Mid-State Technical College is reaching and serving more people than ever, according to recent enrollment data reported by the College. The data is based on head count growth for the 2022–23 academic year and ranks Mid-State number one in growth out of 16 technical colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS), a first for the College. A new pathway to a career in advanced manufacturing is now available to local students, thanks to a partnership between Mid-State Technical College, UW-Stout and the Smart Automation Certification Alliance (SACA). The pathway is designed for high school dual credit students, incumbent workers and traditional college students alike. The first step in the pathway is Mid-State’s new Advanced Manufacturing Technology associate degree, which provides hands-on training in advanced manufacturing and automation.

Mid-State Technical College will host the annual Wisconsin Education Fair (WEF) on Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 9 to 11 a.m. on the Wisconsin Rapids Campus.
