The Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce’s Lunch by the River summer program will begin on Thursday, July 2nd. Lunch by the River is a weekly event taking place on Thursdays from July 2nd – August 27th from 11:30 – 1 pm at Veterans’ Park in Wisconsin Rapids. The community is invited to enjoy lunch from local restaurants and food trucks while taking in the beautiful surroundings of the Wisconsin River and newly redesigned Veterans’ Park.
The Chamber has worked closely with the Wood County Health Department and City officials to implement extra precautions to ensure a safe event for the community, lunch vendors and sponsors. We ask attendees to understand that by following these policies, we are making Lunch by the River a safe event. Physical distancing will be required, and seating will be limited to provided social circles located throughout the park. Areas of the park will be roped off to accommodate lines for ordering and food pickup. Food vendors will have packaged utensils, packaged condiments, and covered containers. Masks are preferred. Additional bathrooms and hand-washing stations will be provided. Entertainment will be limited throughout the season.
“The Heart of Wisconsin is very excited to be hosting Lunch by the River for the community. In order to host a safe, fun, successful event, we ask that the community assist in following the safety protocol we have developed in partnership with the Wood County Health Department.” commented Heart of Wisconsin President Angel Whitehead.
“Safety is of the utmost importance to us and we can only do that with the support of the community. Lunch by the River is a cornerstone event for our residents, the lunch vendors, and our sponsors. We look forward to continuing to promote our downtown and area businesses through this program.”
2020 Lunch by the River sponsors include: Wisconsin Rapids Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, ABR Employment Services, Mariani Packing Company, Solarus, Lakeland University, Ho-Chunk Gaming Nekoosa, Marshfield Clinic Research Institute, Ocean Spray Cranberries, United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties, Marshfield Clinic – Wisconsin Rapids, TRICOR Insurance Services, WoodTrust Bank, Duraclean Specialists, Edenbrook of Wisconsin Rapids and Aspirus.
