Prevail Bank donates $7,000 to Mary's Place of Central Wisconsin
(Wood & Marathon Counties) Prevail Bank donated $7,000 to the nonprofit, Mary’s Place of Central Wisconsin, to build and furnish an onsite laundry room in their new 11 apartment transitional housing building that includes four 2-bedroom and seven 1-bedroom apartments in Wisconsin Rapids for the homeless.
Transitional housing is a place where individuals and families live temporarily (an average of 6 months) and have access to case management services for employment, mental health and substance use treatment supports, life skills and more. Transitional housing is the stepping stone between homelessness and long-term sustainable housing such as subsidized housing or an apartment. Program participants pay a weekly fee of $80 to participate in the transitional housing program. Mary’s Place has operated a transitional housing program in Marshfield for more than 15 years and is expanding to Wisconsin Rapids.
Mary’s Place will have a house mentor and a night supervisor who lives on site, an operations manager will support application processing and other programmatic duties to run the site. The building will have security cameras and can only be accessed through a key fob. Construction is due to be completed in early June. Volunteers are needed for post-construction cleaning and move-in days, a sign-up link with more information can be found here. More information about the program and how to apply can be found by visiting marysplacecw.org
The funds provided were part of Prevail Bank’s Charitable Contributions program. The program is available for local non-profits that help local people in need, especially those with low-to-moderate incomes; stimulate communities financially; and/or enhances the standard of living of those less fortunate.
